ABOUT ME
The face behind Whimsical Oddities🌙
Welcome! My name is Lisa-Marie (Lizz) and i'm the creative mind behind those artworks. When i'm not making art you can find me wandering through the forest, singing my heart out or playing with my cats. Butterflies, moths and other insects took a big part in my life ever since i was a little girl. As i found my first dead butterfly on my way to work one day i decided to give him a "forever home". I preserved the specimen and put it into a frame that i built.I started to get my hand on some more butterflies and contuined preserving them in a respectful way, so their natural beauty is captured for eternity.

Handraised moths and butterflies 🦋
"I started raising my own moths in February 2021 since i wanted to have a better sense about my specimen. About twenty species in a span from spring to autumn lived with me during that year. Learning about their behaviour and to watch them in all of their different stages - from egg to caterpillar to a grown moth was my main intention. The whole process takes a few months, after that they hatch out of their cocoon they live (depending on the species) about 1-2 weeks and die naturally after that. Some moths are more active than others, some leave the world in an almost perfect shape, some do have visable flight tracks, ripped wings or broken antennas. For me personally, those "imperfections" make them unique and i love to see that there is a story behind every moth i raise." - Lizz
Green witch with a big heart 🌙
As i’m practicing witchcraft for more than 10 years it had always been a huge part in my life to work with the nature instead against it. In which i do my work i have truly found my passion, as i'm constantly "creating" life - by breeding my moths, collecting flowers and other various plants in my nearest fields and forests and making other people happy with my art.
